Back To Black

My first lyrics on Lyrically Melodic are from the album Back To Black by Amy Winehouse. The multi platinum award winning album that's sold close to fifteen million albums worldwide deserve a mention on my blog.

Regardless of Amy and her public issues, battle with drugs and her train wreck like behaviour. She is still an amazing artist in my eyes and the lyrics rightfully so on this Jazz/Soul inspired album make my first entry on my blog.

The album is heavily dark. The songs and lyrical content are more focused on break ups and heartbreak and it truly works well with the Jazz/Soul element of the album.

I have selected two songs from the album to reference lyrics from as these two are my favorite songs off the album and the lyrics really hit a spot with me. So let me know what you think of my choices and see anyone also enjoys the song or lyrics.

BACK TO BLACK

He left no time to regret
Kept his dick wet
With his same old safe bet
Me and my head high and my tears dry
Get on without my guy

You went back to what you know
So far removed
From all that we went through
And I tread a troubled track
My odds are stacked
I'll go back to black

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to, I go back to us

I love you much
It's not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
When I go back to

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to

Black, Black, Black, Black, Black, Black

I go back to
I go back to

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black

TEARS DRY ON THEIR OWN

All I can ever be to you
Is a darkness that we knew
And this regret I got accustomed to
Once it was so right
When we were at our high
Waiting for you in the hotel at night
I knew I hadn't met my match
But every moment we could snatch
I don't know why I got so attached
It's my responsibility
And you don't owe nothing to me
But to walk away I have no capacity

He walks away
The sun goes down
He takes the day but I'm grown
And in your way
In this blue shade
My tears dry on their own

I don't understand
Why do I stress the man
When there's so many bigger things at hand
We could of never had it all
We had to hit a wall
So this is inevitable withdrawal
Even if I stop wanting you
A perspective pushes true
I'll be some next man's other woman soon

I shouldn't play myself again
I should just be my own best friend
Not fuck myself in the head with stupid men

He walks away
The sun goes down
He takes the day but I'm grown
And in your way
In this blue shade
My tears dry on their own

So we are history
Your shadow covers me
The sky above
A blaze that only lovers see

He walks away
The sun goes down
He takes the day but I'm grown
And in your way
In this blue shade
My tears dry on their own

I wish I could say no regrets
And no emotional debts
Cause that kiss goodbye the sun sets
So we are history
Your shadow covers me
A blaze that only lovers see

He walks away
The sun goes down
He takes the day but I am grown
And in your way
My deep shade
My tears dry
